Why is my dress size so different from my other clothing sizes?

I wear a 0-2 in pants and a small in junior shirts but my dress size is like a 6 or an 8. Why is it such a big difference. My measurements are 34c-26-35 if that helps

For some reason dress sizes are ALWAYS bigger than your normal size. NO idea why they do that. SO stupid if you ask me.. because why would a size 6 woman want to buy a size 12 dress!? hello!! haha not helping them sell any.. it would be better for them to make the sizes smaller than normal hey!?
